Transmissions: CANTO I. ANCESTORS.
Conceived and devised by Silvia Battista ANCESTORS speaks of stones as ancestors - earthly stones, meteorites, and artificially created stones. Drawing, mapping, moving, dreaming, and digital processing are all modalities of transmission that Silvia Battista uses to connect with these elements. Stones tell stories of deep time: constellations of past, present, and future life forms entangled into glimpses of infinity.
Silvia collaborated with Manoli Moriaty for the sound of the ritual of The Temple of the Stone of Pendle, and with Laura Spark, who animated The Golden Stone.

TRANSMISSIONS
The Material Matters Collective returns to Liverpool's Bridewell Gallery with TRANSMISSIONS - the next major project since their critically-acclaimed residency Into the Wyld at the Williamson Art Gallery in 2024.
TRANSMISSIONS is a four-episode exploration of correspondences between the animate, inanimate and the metaphysical. Across four interconnected exhibitions, each artist of Material Materials will use the historic fabric of the Bridewell complex to invoke dialogue with the spaces and those who inhabit it - past, present and future.
It is conceived as an anthology in four episodes:

Material Matters is an artists' collective and co-operative engaged in artistic and curatorial practices exploring the inter-relationship between materiality, aesthetics and performativity under a collaborative praxis the artists call 'emotional minimalism'.
