TRANSMISSIONS: Material Matters Announces Four-Part Exhibition Anthology at Bridewell Gallery
Artists of the Material Matters Collective will return to Liverpool's Bridewell Gallery autumn 2026 with TRANSMISSIONS - the next major collaboration since their critically-acclaimed residency Into the Wyld at the Williamson Art Gallery in 2024.
TRANSMISSIONS will be an exploration of correspondences between the animate, inanimate and the metaphysical. Across four interconnected exhibitions, each artist of Material Materials will use the historic fabric of the Bridewell complex to create new and challenging experiential contemporary art environments to invoke dialogue with the spaces and those who inhabit it - past, present and future.
TRANSMISSIONS is conceived as an anthology of experimental art in four episodes:
03 Oct - 11 Oct Silvia Battista will exhibit DEEP TIME
16 Oct - 25 Oct John Elcock will exhibit PNEUMA
30 Oct - 08 Nov Angelo Madonna will exhibit PASSAGES
13 Nov - 22 Nov Patric Rogers will exhibit VESSELS
The programme will include gallery tours by Material Matters artists, an exhibition bookshop selling new titles published by the collective, plus signed artists' editions. A reading area will also be available. At the close of the exhibition a Long Table discussion event with the artists will occur, check out socials for booking details nearer the time.
Material Matters is an artists' collective and co-operative engaged in artistic and curatorial practices exploring the inter-relationship between materiality, aesthetics and performativity under a collaborative praxis the artists call 'emotional minimalism'.
