VESSELS: Opening Date Announced

I'm pleased to announce that my new exhibition, VESSELS, the fourth and final exhibition of the Material Matters residency at Bridewell, Liverpool, will open on Saturday 14 November 2026.

Presented as Canto IV of IV, VESSELS forms part of TRANSMISSIONS, and is an exploration of the relationship between matter, presence and knowledge.

Occupying three distinct spaces within the former Victorian prison, the exhibition brings together sculpture, installation, encoded language and symbolism to consider how meaning moves between bodies, objects and places, and what remains when its original source has disappeared.

Neither archaeology nor prophecy, VESSELS inhabits the uncertain territory between memory and imagination, the ancient and the yet-to-exist, where matter becomes a carrier of histories, experiences and meanings beyond our immediate understanding.

As the final canto of Material Matters, the exhibition marks the culmination of the residency.

Opening Day

Saturday 14 November 2026

  • Exhibition open: 12pm–4pm

  • Private View: 6pm–9pm

  • Venue: Bridewell, Liverpool

Visitors are welcome to explore the exhibition during the afternoon, with a private view taking place later that evening.

What survives the vessel? What remains of a transmission when its source has disappeared? Can matter remember what language has forgotten?

I look forward to welcoming you to Bridewell.
